How did you acquire your BMW, lease or purchase?
How did you acquire your BMW, lease or purchase? Do you want to keep your BMW long term or is 3 years enough?

Purchase. There's something to be said for the feeling that a car is completely yours.
I drive a BMW because I am not obsessed about money and what makes most fiscal sense. If I were, I'd be driving something else entirely. |

I own a business so I am able to get a tax break by leasing, so that's what I do. Otherwise I would probably finance a purchase. |

Have you looked into BMW Select? Payments like a lease (less than loan) but purchase with a balloon at the end. You then have the option to buy out, re-fi or sell the car which from what I've seen will be worth at least if not more than the value of the car.

Also, even if you have paid off your house, stop paying your property taxes and see who really owns your home. |

My experience with leasing has been the peace of mind knowing I can just turn it in when the lease is over, or if it has been treated gingerly like mine with low miles - sell it for more than the payoff with BMW FS and get some money back. I love Bimmer's but I never want to have one after the warranty is up. These are simply my opinions and am not trying to challenge anyone else's opinion.

But with any purchase, we have to pay the sales tax of the full price of the car. So you end up paying sales tax on that balloon payment even if you end up selling the car at that point. Keep in mind on any BMW lease you can always decide to buy the car at any time even if it's still during your lease term. |

Good point, however, in my case the tax on the ballon is actually less than the $750 acquisition & $350 disposition fees. Plus those dang mileage restrictions on a lease-so much for that cross-country road trip.

I bought my Tiguan on a PCP and there will be enough equity in it to put a good deposit down on the X1 and keep the monthly payment about the same. |

Leased, in the hopes that a smaller rwd sedan will arrive before the lease runs up. F30 was just too big, ATS transmissions are awful, etc. Hoping sightings of the 2GC start soon.

Purchased with cash. I will keep it for ten years and then replace. It is what I have done with my last two cars and this one will be the same.
