Tire replacement
looking at purchasing either Michelin Primacy MXM4 or Pirelli P7.
225/50 R17 Run Flats. Anyone have experience with these? My OMI Goodyear Eagle LS 2's wore out at 25k miles. |

We have the Michelin P7 All Seasons. We got a nail in one a few weeks ago and Pirelli specifically states that the RFT's can not be repaired in any way. Fortunately we were only at 9k miles and the nail was on the front, so I had them rotate the rears to the front and replaced the two tires on the back. I'd assume this also applies to the summer RFT's. Just something to consider, most other RFT's can be patched.

BMW does not recommend plugging any run flat. But I've done it ;-)

I can't wait to replace my P7's, now covered 43K and the rears are just hitting 2 mm while the fronts still have 5 mm left. Will definately be going to Michelins next time.

The dealership has always replaced my run-flats when I got a nail or screw that caused a leak (at least on the X6) I had a total of 3 of them. One of the reasons I buy the nail and tire with the vehicle.
With Cadillac it depended on where the object was on the tire if they would patch or replace.

Just got a nail in our Pirelli all season, luckily they are covered by road hazard from Pirelli. Dealer is ordering a new tire and by the end of the week we will be up and rolling again. Seems like Pirelli is the only BMW tire that has this.
