Just about all euro cars do that - surprised its as low as that, often nearer 10%. Can also vary by speed. Means the manufacturers can't be held accountable for speeding offenses etc.
Can't you just drive 5% faster? That's what we do :-) |

Funny that you should bring this up. As soon as I got my new X1 (this is my first euro car), I felt that it cruised very comfortably at a much higher speed that I was used to cruising at in my old car. This car makes it seem as though you're not even moving.
Now I know why, and I've been doing some Googling on the subject. I too would like my speedometer to show the car's actual speed. What good is it otherwise? I do know that you can enable the display of your actual speed on the little digital screen on your dashboard by "coding" your car, but this isn't for the faint of heart. Read these forums for details: www . bmw coding . com << I wasn't able to enter this URL normally. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368 I too would be very interested in finding out if there is an easy way to calibrate the speedo. |
