X1 Xdrive to SDrive coding possible?
Since getting my Michelin Pilot sports on the factory stagger I’ve had a judder at low speeds that is unsettling. I’ve measured everything, confirmed factory tire size, changed tc fluid and recalibrated, even tried a new battery. I just tried pulling fuse 40 which basically opens up the TC to not engage. Boom problem solved. However 4x4 cel is now there and no traction control. I think a conversion to rwd temporarily would be great then when it’s time for new tires just order 2 more wheels to match and I could do a square set. I have 8inch front an 9inch rear factory set. I contacted x delete who said it’s not possible but could be coded. So I wanted to go with pro tool to code this out but want to make sure before I pull the trigger on yet another expensive bmw software I’ll rarely use (already own MHD, Carly and a Creader). Can anyone confirm this is possible or doable. I just want to disable Xdrive until next tire change in a year or so. Also open to suggestions.

I'm confused, what did x-delete say isn't possible? Do they not support e84? I guess I assumed they would since xHp supports e84. Or do you just not want to pay for x-delete temporarily, since the rear wheel drive will only be a temporary stop-gap until you get two more wheels for a square set-up?

Here is the communication I had with Xhp (xdelete) posted below. Basically they state it’s not possible but can be done through coding by VO (vehicle order). I’ve reached out to protool who state if it’s something that could be done through ncs expert it could be achieved through them.
Long story short I’m looking for a safe holdover until I could purchase a square set of wheels and tires. I pulled fuse 40 and I’m no longer having the “judder” but do indeed have CEL’s. Wondering if this is safe for a good while until next tire change rolls around or if I’m playing with fire. Also to give context. New tires were put on last August. |

Wow, the transfer case must have its own controller, I guess I mistakenly assumed it was controlled by the TCU like the transmission. I run xhp on my X1 and love it, I assumed x-delete would also be supported. I checked realoem, it looks like our 35i transfer cases are specific to e84 - they do not cross reference to any other BMW vehicles. So weird to me, as pretty much every part I've looked into crossreferences to many other n55 powered vehicles, I wonder why they gave X1 its own transfer case?
I know you said you replaced the transfer case fluid, but the issue persisted. How many miles were on the TC when you changed the fluid? How confident are you that your transfer case isn't just on its way out? Our other car is an X7, so I spend some time over on that forum. Different car and TC obviously, but some years of X7 (and X5 apparently) have TC issues. First step is to replace fluid, as you've done. In some cases, that resolves the issue. In others it doesn't, and they replace the transfer case. Here's thread if you're intersted: https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2011112 |

Thank you for the thread! These AWD issues are crazy. This is my first Xdrive. I’ve had two other BMW’s rwd that never missed.
Yes very weird. I replaced the TC fluid at 63k. Problem started right after getting tires at 61k. Car now has 69k. I’m praying the TC is not on its way out and it’s just due to sidewall height difference. The problem began right after I got new tires. Yes they are staggered but factory staggered. My last set when I bought the car were staggered but no issues. They were however a different brand. I’m running PS4’s. Again the problem resolved when u pulled fuse 40 for the vtg. But I get cel’s, loss of traction control, and possibly no abs. Again, just looking to run a “rwd” setup. Not truly convert by removing front diff and everything else. Rather do something very similar to x delete by coding only. I’m attempting this as I think tires might be the fix. However, my last set of tires cost $1400 last year. My next set will probably set me back nearly $2000 if include getting matching wheels of the same size. So if I could use pro tool to “trick its brain” into thinking it’s rwd for the next year or so then convert or code it back to awd when it’s time for new tires that would be amazing.
