BMW X1 vs. Audi Q3 Photo shootout!
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW X1 vs. Audi Q3 Photo shootout! Audi's all new Q3 has just been released, which was not unexpected considering Audi has a vehicle in every segment that BMW has one. The new Q3 is certainly aesthetically pleasing, but when I first saw it, I didn't have a strong reaction one way or the other. I think that is a function of the fact that like most Audis today, it is fairly similar to every other Audi product, especially the Q5. So while it's not ugly, it is a bit booring to me. Regardless, we bring you this photo comparison between the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1, a car which has been on the market for 2-3 years now. You be the judge! (Try voting in our poll above) Sizing the two cars up, the X3 comes in a little bit longer and lower then the Q3 (check out the full figures below) while the Q3 has a bit more cargo space, mainly due to the shape of that rounded trunk. At launch, the Q3 is planned to arrive with two gasoline and one diesel engine with Audi's bespoke Quattro AWD system and 7-speed dual clutch system. Non Quattro FWD will also be available. The BMW X1 of course comes in an AWD and Rear Wheel Drive variant. The Q3 will use the well known VW/Audi 2.0T engine with max power set at 211 HP for the top tuned variant, in contrast to the X1 sDrive28i which will recieve the new N20 engine, a 2.0L turbo four which produces 240hp (See: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=477882). The N20 gives the BMW the decided powertrain victory. The Audi Q3 will start at €29,900 for the base version in comparison to the entry level X1 sDrive18i which comes in at €27,600.

I agree. audi is imo prettier from every angle.
I hate the huge 'buckteeth' grilles on the x1 and f10, on the x1 the combination of these and the headlights make it look awkward. M Sport bumper doesn't really flow with the rest of the front end. Looks strange from the back, tailgate shouldn't stick out as much, looks like a humpback. Q3 is nice, not sure how I feel about the taillights, but it would be my pick. |

I actually really like the X1 and I think it looks a lot better than the Audi, The Q3 looks really boring to me, kind of like an overgrown vw?
Also, I don't like the M pack funny enough I think it kills the X1 and it looks better with that silver trim option instead. |

I would say the the Audi is easier on the eyes...but kinda bland in that same regard. The X1 is my preference...especially with the M-sport.
Maybe I like my cars to stand out from the rest or maybe its BMW fanboism...or a of little both -Scott

The N20 blows away the Audi/VW four. The motor is the weak point of the Audi line up because the choice is either ~200 horses or an S model with nothing in between. The X1 should ride a lot better with a longer wheelbase.

I like the sport pack on both. I will need to test drive both to see which is best.

there's an Audi Q3?!
I was unaware. Sorry BM, but the Audi looks great. BMW just looks good. Edit: So this Q3 is the same size as the X1? Is the Q5 similar to X3 or X5 in size? Seems the Q7 is much bigger than the X5 P.P.S. I like that BMW organizes these comparos. Nice to see the different angles of competitor cars. I would also like to see technical data between the two cars. Last edited by antzcrashing; 04-14-2011 at 12:08 PM.. |

BMW looks better from the back and inside, q3 looks better from the front. BMW could possibly look better if the fog lights were not so out of place...

in the side view, the rear half of the Audi looks like a subaru. gross. that D-pillar needs to be more vertical/pushed back and it would look great

BMW style looks far more dynamic and fluid, looks fast without even moving. Audi looks static with its styling elements too disconnected from each other. |

Seen the x1 it looks bad in person. The Q3 doesnt seem to look better it looks like the a1. Both look bad. The rear section looks horrible on both too much of a slope, cars are too low. The X1 hood is too long.

X1 looks like a wagon or a big version of the original M Coupe, Q3 looks more like an SUV all around.
If I wanted a tiny SUV I would go Q3, if I wanted a wagon with a little more style I would go X1. both are too small for me though and sort of pointless since both companies offer wagons with AWD. |
