Combox replacement using Bimmercode?

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to "activate" a new Combox using Bimmercode. I know it's possible using NCS Expert but my laptop running that has issues and my connection cable was damaged.

Long version: The combox in my X1 (Hifi, Nav, BT all previously working options) stopped working with the "Please wait" forever BT prompt and greyed out options for Multimedia/USB ports in the dash and armrest at the same time that my FRM module went out. I had The ECU Pro https://the-ecu-pro.com/ repair my FRM and then used RealOEM to spec out the combox part number I needed and ordered that from eBay. I plugged in the new combox, briefly received a SOS warning error that went away, then proceeded to have the same symptoms with the new combox as the old combox (no multimedia ports working, BT forever waiting). So basically, nothing happened because the system thinks there isn't a combox to work with still/anymore.

I read that initializing the "new" combox was as simple as loading the default configuration through the laptop-based software but again, my setup isn't working. I also read that the combox could be initialized with Bimmercode by selecting "Headunit" then "Expert Mode" and simply hitting "CODE" which was supposed to load missing configurations as it reloaded everything but that hasn't worked so I am stumped.

Any Bimmercode experts or someone with similar but successful experience doing this?
