Can we talk about exhaust note?
I have a 2015 35M. I want to have a bit more aggressive exhaust note. I don't want anything annoying or over the top. I'm not a kid trying to impress girls. I'm just an enthusiast who wants to smile just a bit when I start it up and when I step on it.
Just something a little extra. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks in advance Matt

Do you have a catless downpipe? That definately gave my car a more aggressive exhaust note, and a noticeable bump in power.

Are girls impressed by our car, where they at? So far the only random compliments I've gotten were from 2 guys....1 of them was I'm pretty sure of the variety that was into other guys...not hating but that's just how I interpreted the situation lol

First $0 option is to just unplug the electrical connector that controls the exhaust valve. By disconnecting, it will just keep the valve open at all times, making cold start deeper and louder (kinda obnoxious). Exhaust should be slightly louder at idle and putting around town.

I will say, I got my first compliment on my 35i m-sport after 3.5 years a few weeks ago from a woman behind me at the car wash. I was surprised to get ANY compliment on these, but will gladly take it. At least we know she has good taste.

Personally I don't see the X1 or any BMW SUVs nice looking. They serve a certain purpose that met our criteria - practical, fun to drive (for a crossover), somewhat quick and German solidity. |

I saw an X1 35i the other day with a muffler delete and it didn't sound too loud as he was cruising. He didn't step on it, but I'd imagine it would be loud/obnoxious if he did.

With a hatch back for a rear, exhaust notes tend to be drony at certain rpm. Listening from the outside is not the same being experienced inside.
Drone is less of an issue with sedans or convertibles. Something to do with the cavernous compartment associated with wagons/hatchback rear. |

I disconnected the exhaust flap so it is always open. (Not the golf tee mod). If memory serves, the connection is in the tail light access cubby.
