Windshield cracked

Guys

My wife was driving my car (g80) and a rock chipped the windshield. Does anyone have any experience with GEICO and know if they replace it with the OEM glass?

Thanks

Not with Geico directly, but it should be spelled out in your policy. A couple of years back I had a one-month old X3 that developed a crack in the windshield. It took some arguing, but I eventually had them replace it with OEM glass. It wasn't easy.

Geico uses Safelite as their preferred installer. You can request to have it replaced with OEM glass but it may or may not be approved. The first time I had my X3 windshield replaced by Safelite it was approved for OEM glass because nothing else was even available at the time. Another time after that it wasn't approved for OEM but I haven't noticed a difference between the two anyways.

How do they handle the hud. Isn't that a special film?

Just have to let them know ahead of time that the vehicle is equipped with HUD.

I cracked mine yesterday... yes geico charges 25 and I'm fairly certain it's included in most policies.

So i managed to get the workorder from safelight and it does seem to be oem, it also includes other parts. I hope HUD wont be an issue bc i dont remember that being discussed.
