Bad 0-60 Times x1 35i
So I know some of it is practice and all, but is an AWD auto.
traction off mash the gas or brake boost? I feel like when I launch it (stage 2+ or E30) it has a second or two delay where it almost feels like its trying to build full boost before its even starts moving. I'll try to get some logs, and I'm on snow tires, but its cold. Is anyone actually able to run a good 0-60? Tips/setup info would be appreciated. |

Traction control off, launch in 1st gear, brake boost to 2k rpm. I think 60 mph is right at the top of 2nd gear, so you might be better off just winding out 2nd instead of shifting 2->3 at about 5700 rpm like you would otherwise.
With an fantastic DA, I got a 3.95 0-60 on a 12.4@109 1/4 mile run. https://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/show...1&postcount=13 |

I just found this article from motor trend that describes how they test 0-60. Turns out they'll use launch control if the car has it, brake boost if it doesn't, and basically do whatever is needed to get the absolute fastest time possible from it.
https://www.motortrend.com/news/motor-trend-testing/ I haven't tried a brake boosted 0-60 yet, but just mashing the gas I get that same annoying lag and i'm probably going 15mph before the car really starts to take off. I guess now I don't feel so bad about my crappy non-break boosted 0-60 attempts. So far with MHD stage 1 plus, Wagner evo 1 intercooler, chargepipe, and xHP stage 2, my best dragy time is 5.7 when just mashing the gas.... I'll have to try one like you said, NocheDeZippeh. And by the way, nice run! |

What is a 1' roll that you mention? I'm definitely not happy seeing stock numbers on stage 2+ or even e30 with an auto trans lol. It almost feels like something is wrong with the tune. I ran 13.9 at the track on stock run flats. I don't remember the big lag it seems we all feel before MHD. I know the stage 2+ tune isn't a favorite on N55e, many including myself feel low speed oscillations. I'm just curious what it would be doing to create that huge lag mashing the gas. Anyone know any good MHD tuners in New England? Bren doesn't do MHD for some crazy reason. |

Also,
Do you guys have custom xHP settings? I don't mind it all around on stage 3 I believe it is, but the 3 to 2 downshift is brutal and lunges the car. I want to turn down the intensity of just that shift. I've also heard people got a custom "sutphin" I think his name was xHP tune. I wonder if that's worth it and how much it is. |

That 3.95 was with 1' rollout (4.15 without - not nearly as impressive lol). If you're still getting stock-like numbers with stage 2+ or e30 maps, something must be up. Get some logs and see what boost/timing/afr/etc look like. I've only used MHD to load the Burger back end flashes to run with the JB4, so I have no experience with MHD OTS tunes. From what I've gathered reading the boards, their tunes for EWG turbos are more refined than their PWG tunes.
I've never messed with the xHP customization options, but maybe tinkering with the shift map editor could help. |

wheela - Give the brake boost launch a go, and your 0-60 will drop substantially. With your mods, good conditions, and plenty of octane, you should easily see sub-5 seconds even without 1' of rollout. Brake boosted launches aren't wonderful for the transmission, but I do them sparingly. Since I'm pretty mildly tuned (not upgraded turbo w/ methanol, etc) I figure I'm fairly safe. And I change my trans fluid and pan every ~40k miles.

On the stock turbo I did a 4.55 or 4.29 with the 1 foot rollout. Just brake boost for a little bit and let go. I spun a little bit on this run.

Nice! I take it that 5.15 is without the rollout? If so, then you should be at about 4.95 with 1' rollout. What fuel are you using? These motors really need octane to make power. If you have one, post a log of a 3rd gear pull to see where you're at with the tuning.

I have MHD 2+ E30 and XHP stage 3. Full bolt-ons and I managed a 4.4 0-60. Quarter mile per Dragy is 12.7@108. I start in second gear, traction off and brake boost.

In Dragy on the 'Performance Mode' page, where you check the boxes of the data you want captured, I have 0-60, 1/8 mile (NHRA rules), and 1/4 mile (NHRA rules) selected. So, I guess having the 1/8 and 1/4 mile boxes checked is what gives the 1' rollout measurement. I've never done just a 0-60 measurement, always either a 1/4 mile or 60-100 (my poor man's version of 60-130 lol).
Your log looks pretty clean to me - boost, timing and afr look good. Mixing in some race gas or Boostane and going up to the stage 1+ 95 octane map would yield a bit more power, and should get your 0-60 down a little more. |
