Tire Suggestion!
Hello,
I am new over here and looking for some advice. I have an X1 2015 with 18s wheels. They come with 225/45/18, I am currently running 245/40/18, but I won't something a little higher. I am planning on buying 235/55/18, has anyone put something similar on this type of rims? Many thanks! |

There is a range of tire sizes you can run but the diameter of the new tire must not exceed 3% of the stock size. The reasons for this are multiple.
The stock diameter of your car, 225/45/18, is 26". the diameter of the tire you are thinking of putting on the car, 235/55/18 is 28.2", well outside the recommended substitution. So no, this would not be a wise option. To see all of the workable options for your car go to: tiresize.com/calculator. When you plug in the stock size, the calculator will bring up all of the tires that can be safely substituted. Hope this helps. |

Has anyone run 225 50 R18s? I know they are out of the official range but they are close at .3 off. I want a little more sidewall height on my winter tires.

Biggest I've put on those rims is 245/45/18 and it rubs a little bit on full lock when reversing. Otherwise, I love the feel of them!

I have used 245/45/18 on a 18x8 et18 on the front. I initially had rubbing at full lock but went away once I raised up the ride height. With stock offset and stock ride height, It shouldn't rub. I also have ran 275/40/18 on a 18x9 et29 and 18x10 et37. This rubbed only after I installed wheel spacers to push the wheels outwards. Overall, the car looks much better with a taller sidewall.
