X1 Automatic Boot Opener
Hi Guys,
So my 2013 X1 has the boot unlock/release feature on the key fob. I was wondering if anyone has managed to find a way of having the boot open fully using this button? Is there a modification out there that will do this? |

There are.. there's a thread on this here where you have to install a kit for this. It will open/close both.

I installed a kit on ours for this. Paid about $500 or so at the time - search for TL105 electric tail gate online. Install was fairly straight forward but you do have to cut a couple holes. But it looks and acts completely stock.
Can't find the thread on it at the moment, but let me know if you have questions about it, I'd be happy to help. |

Do they seem reliable so far? Saw your video, and surprised how loud they are lol.

Yeah I was as well. To be honest I got used to it pretty quick. Made for some funny conversations with friends but in reality it's not too bad, especially outside.
In terms of reliability I have noticed that on occasion the trunk will unlock but the actuators don't engage. But pressing the button a second time takes care of that. Also didn't notice any difference in operation regardless of outside temperature which is nice to see. Only word of caution is that it's somewhat of a hazard when it's closing the last little portion (you can hear it speeding up in the video) - I don't know if the obstacle sensor is still engaged then and I could see it causing a bit of damage if you place your hand there. The kit came with two hazard stickers (again, don't remember if they're visible) |
