2012 2.0d 8spd auto coolant temp low
Hi guys,
As the title suggests, I've got a uk 2012 2.0d 8speed auto sDrive SE, with low coolant temp. The thermostat isn't stuck open, and the temp sender is new. Easy driving on on a main road (not motorway) the water temp doesn't get much above 78degrees. On a motorway it does get to 90. Of course, with the engine temps below thermostat operating temp, it will be over fuelling resulting in terrible fuel efficiency figures! One theory is that the car is supposed to have some air control flaps. Looking behind the kidney grilles it looks as though there should be some flaps fitted to stall airflow over the rad and engine. Does anyone have these flaps? Has anyone else noticed low coolant running temps? Any help greatly appreciated |

Cheers. If you look through the kidney grills, you'll see the plastic air channel in front of the rad. Mine has some positions where it looks as though there should be flaps fitted. None of the dealers I have spoken to can tell me if they should be fitted....

Sorry I just realised we're talking about different engines.... Mine is a gas N26 (28i) and doesn't have any air channels in front of the radiator.
Plus probably different operating temperature. My bad |
