Disable rear PDC via hitch light, where to plug in?
I have an aftermarket hitch and bike rack on my X1, and it makes the rear PDC make a continuous tone everytime that I go into reverse...very annoying.
I've read over on Bimmerfest that several people with X3/X5 have had success with adding a simple $10 tow light and connecting it via a "4-pin to 7-pin" connector, which adds enough resistance/draw to make the ECU think there is a proper trailer turn signal. Has anyone done this before? Where should I be looking for the connector? Any help would be much appreciated. |

Based on my research, the X1 does not have the connector and electrics to make this happen as it is not approved in US for a hitch. probably can just hit the switch on the console to tunr off the PDC or at least disapble the sound via Idrive Let us know what you find |

There is no 4 pin or 7 pin connector. You will have to install it yourself. I've done it and it will take about 1-2 hours depending on your ability. Soldering will be difficult as the space to work in is tight. Solderless connectors are a bit easier but still difficult because of limited room to work. Small hands and good vision(neither of which I have) will make the job much easier. I soldered my connections.
