So all bets are off today, forecast calls for 2 feet or more of snow and lucky me, I gotta drive home when it starts to hit hard. We'll see how she does. But just in case, I got me a shovel, some heavy duty winter stuff, and a camcorder to record my final moments...don't let me down xDrive
I might be able to post video of the blizzard but we'll see! UPDATED: (see pics below) Last edited by Kool-Kat; 02-09-2013 at 02:53 PM.. |

Skills only get you so far in a blizzard dude. On nearly new all seasons you should be "ok" but Xdrive, 4WD, 6WD is not a substitute for good winter rubber. Once your A/Ss get ~40-60% worn you'll be in trouble in severe conditions. You may not get stuck but you also may not be able to stop or turn fast enough to avoid a collision if something unexpected happens. You can afford an X1, you can afford the right tires for the task. Word. Drive safely.
No my 1er is not out today, wife's Pilot with new Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snows- great tire also running on my CR-V but they're not as crispy at this point- ~15k on them. Unfortunately I can't leave work early today but I am making it home. If not (roads closed etc.) I did everything I could.

Some Pics
Even though My X woke up buried, she managed to get out safely and also she did very well in the snow, like really. I drove to and from work today, no problem. Our complex was a crazy mess when I got back, but I rolled right up the hill full of snow packs everywhere. Deepest I went through today..., maybe a foot n change. Quite fun, HDC works great, traction control was very useful too, the X1 did not disappoint. I took some video, I'll try to get it loaded sometime....
