39. After years of driving sports cars even as daily drivers I decided to buy something more practical and sensible for my lifestyle (I drive a lot of miles and can live in different places and also hotels at times). Also want to do more outdoor hobbies and the X1 gives me the space, much more than my previous Z4 M Coupe did . I can see me keeping the X1 long term but possibly picking up another toy in the future but only as a second car.
Also wanted to bring my motoring costs down. 48MPG is nearly double I was getting in my previous car and servicing costs will be a fraction of my previous costs, in fact free for me for the next 5/6 years or 60,000 miles as BMW threw in a servicing pack. |

It's interesting that the majority lie in the 38+ bracket, I too was nearly 38 when I bought mine last year, now 39. Must be economics. Even cheap BMWs are expensive!

I'm sure BMW hates that I keep buying effectively cheaper cars, but if they're going to keep building bigger cars, I'm going to keep this trend up. |

Third BMW behind a '04 320Ci, '08 135i and now a '10 X1 23d. I don't wish to recall the prices because compared to the USA, Australian prices make baby Jesus cry. Needless to say, those three have put me $200K+ in outlay, which is scary for a 31 year old upon reflection....

I'm 35.
Seems like alot of us 'middle-aged' guys got it for the wife. Same compromise here. Wife wanted a mini-van (yowzah! well, we do have 4 kids) and I wont be caught dead driving that. I had a 6 speed 2010 Audi A4. Sold the A4, I bought the BMW for the wife 5 weeks ago, and a mini van last week. Don't worry boys, the new car is already on order :0) At least I got to pick the colors - Mineral Grey / Coral Red M-Package |

42, first BMW - a mineral grey/terra xLine xDrive28i due to arrive mid Oct.
Last two cars were 1st/2nd gen Lexus IS. They were solid drives, but wanted to move from sedans to something more unique. |
