X1 Hood Sound Insulation
Anyone interrested to get the underhood sound insulation?
All our X1 doesn't come original with the car. I guess BMW didn't think it is needed. But since the 2.8xdrive was introduce, I think the sound insulation should cut at least 15 to 20% of the timing chain noise. I found that it is possible to get it thru BMW. |

Looks like an interesting and useful retrofit ,could you get the part number/link? . I am guessing it could be from the BMW X1 sDrive20d EfficientDynamics Edition which features newly conceived insulation technology for reducing engine noise that is perceptible inside the vehicle. |

I am very interested in buying one, however, went to my dealership and they said such part did not exist. Showed them the thread in this forum, they looked for the part nr, same answer: didn't exist?
Now what? |

Mod is not recommended. BMW removed this insulation on 1-series here in the US due to heat buildup.

I believe they officially discontinued the hood insulation on 1 and 3 series May of 2008. Our 2009 128i & 335i don't have it.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...57&hg=51&fg=70 This requires some modification to the underhood to properly fit the X1.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=51&fg=75&hl=5 This part is available from US part suppliers. Best price seems to be from Tischer: GETBMWPARTS.COM Great find. I wonder if heat is only a concern with the 6 cylinder engines and not with the I4s. |

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...51&fg=70&hl=23 I'm worried about the X1 shield part number as it does show something different on realoem. Has anyone ordered it yet? |
