Alpinweiß X1 - Winter Express
Vancouver usually enjoys (suffer depending how you look at it) a mild rainy winter. However the last few weeks Raincouver has been experiencing "Snowpocalyse" or "Icemageddon" as some folks call it. Over the Christmas/New Year holiday I took my daughter out to visit some of the local trails for a white forest experience.
I'm a big believer in winter tires. The '14 X1 Sportline with winter tires is wonderful. Confident inspiring and can be quite fun. Wheels: BMW Style 138 17". ET20. Nicely flushed. Love the concave look. Tires: Triangle Snow Lions 225/50/17. Had Blizzak WS80, Dunlop Winter Sport, Nordic Icetrack prior. Difficult to compare as they were all on different cars before. I would say the Blizzaks are the best (duh!) with the Snow Lion tying with the Dunlop for 2nd. Yup! 'nuff said, here are some photos. ![]() Smurf view. ![]() Here you can see the wheels' concavity. I'm running 33f/37r on the Snow Lions. Noticed front tirewall softness during aggressive roundabout engagements. Gonna go for 35 all around. ![]() ![]() ![]() Ice from trees are falling down! Arrghh!!! Quick pic and we're outta here. ![]() |
