Heat Soak or Turbo Lag. Not entirely sure
So lately I've been noticing sometimes when I hit the gas (more than half throttle) from a stop or while moving the car immediately moves, sometimes it takes 1/2 second then "wakes" up. I'm leaning towards heat soak, as it never happens during the first couple minutes of driving.
It's similar to the old carburetor cars where they'd get hot, and the fuel would boil in the carb while running, and you'd get all kinds of off idle bogs. Anyone else notice this in the x1 35i platform? No noticeable different in sport mode vs regular. |

http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=812743 I use manual mode all the time and do not notice any lag whatsoever but maybe the adaptations do not apply in manual mode.

The transmission clear would be nice, but I'm sure my dealer wouldn't do that for free anymore, as my bumper to bumper is expired, and only have CPO remaining. |

It is not heat soak. I agree with the above that I would look into the stock throttle mapping as well as which gear you leave from a stop. I doesn't always shift into 1st and starting from 2nd can feel like lag.

Sorry to hijack. I've used the throttle reset to help my tip-in lag, and it works pretty well. However, does a transmission remap start the car in first gear when you just leave it in drive. I hate shifting the car manually, so I don't use manual mode ever.

It's funny, I notice this a lot in the girlfriends Rav4, it stays in 2nd unless you come to a complete stop and sit there for a second. I don't notice it in the x1 though. |

If you pay attention you will notice the difference when you leave from 1st or 2nd gear. In my coupe I only use the paddle shifters and when I am going to take off from a stop I will leave it in 2nd, to keep traction. For normal driving I downshift into 1st.

Yep, my s28i does that, and I even followed the reset procedure.
When taking off, it's hard to ease off, it wants to hall ass. So, I ease out before hitting car in front, and then, tip gas back in. That's when nothing for a second or two, and then, hall ass again. If that's worst of car, I'll take it. |

I thought about a sprintbooster, but then at like 70/75 pedal travel you're at 100% throttle input, as I understand it. Sure it eliminates a dead pedal, by making it uber sensitive. I wish my results with the reset were night and day like some others. |

in manual mode at higher rpm, i don't notice anything In "D" mode, I notice it, and I have always thought it is because the engine rpms are below the boost threshold, and the gearbox is old design/dumb compared to the sport 8AT of the "F" generation Just keep the revs up OP, when you want the car to hustle |
