Finally retrofitted the LED door handle Lights! + Pics!!
Hello BMW brothers and sisters!
I have finally retrofitted the LED door handle lights to the exterior of my X1. For those who have the premium and or ultimate package, you know what I am speaking of. The retrofit was easy yet time consuming at the same time, but the results are worth it! The LED's are indeed functional and not just cosmetic. They do a very good job at lighting the ground and it was well worth it! For further information on retrofitting them, contact: Israel Hartmann @ mrangisr@gmail.com He retrofitted my lights and the auto dimming mirror in my car! He literally knows everything about BMW's, has the tools, and is extremely reliable! Here are the pics! Any questions about part numbers and such, please don't hesitate to ask! Cheers, |

Thanks! I was actually quite surprised! Those lights are actually functional. I always thought they were just a cosmetic little item, but they actually do a good job illuminating the ground! Actually on the first day, a nice lady came up and gave me a compliment on the lights! It was amazing feeling! Lol |

It ran me about 260$ 200$ for the parts and 60$ to get them painted, my friend installed them for free It was a bit of a hassle, but I will tell you that those lights are really functional! They do a good job on lighting the ground! |

Great work on the retrofit. I am looking to get a bmx x1 base trim and would like to retrofit the door handle lights as well. Did you have to do anything to the computer programing? and when they come on, do the lights slowly turn on as the premium trim versions? or do they turn on like flipping a light switch at home?
Thanks |

Looks like a lot of work and $ for little gain. My X1 has them but I wouldn't lose sleep without them. They come on when the car is unlocked and can be programmed in iDrive IIRC. Kinda like the headlight follow-me home method.

Just replace the door puddle lights from the plethora of choice from eBay or AliExpress.
Does the X1 have outdoor puddle lights? Can't remember.....haha |

When I first picked up 2012 X1 I was happily surprised to find led lights in door handles the first night.
Vin search says it has a lightning package. Sadly I ordered 4 BMW logo display lights for door jams. My mistake because X1 doesn't have door lights 😂 |
