Route 66 Warranty Covers X3 and X5 but excludes X1...BS - call and complain
This is really bullshit - we have no options for aftermarket warranties.
Route 66 warranty has no problem covering costly X3s and X5s but says they exclude the BMW X1 and won't sell me a warranty If you want to have any hope of aftermarket warranty coverage on your car call 800.808.0828 and complain about it. |

Did they provide a reason for not covering the X1?
And you've tried all other warranty companies? Really? Guess I'm a bit confused. You have a highly modified X1 which you track/drag regularly. Swapped turbo, Brembos, coilovers, etc. You're doing the One Lap of America with it for god sakes. You've got five figures of work into the car...and you're considering/worried about an aftermarket warranty? What parts of your car are really left that you could submit a claim on in good faith, your radio or your window regulators? How could that be worth it?

They said the underwriters won't cover it due to high repair costs |

If anything, one would think your average X1 leads an easier life than, say, a 335 or 328. Very odd indeed.

One thought, I think the X1 is about $10k less in MSRP than a comparable X3 or 3 series? If the repair costs of all three are about the same dollar value for a given repair, then the X1 has fewer repairs before they're not worth doing?

I really like my X1 and am giving serious thot' to an extended warranty. How bad of a beating will the dealer give me for extending the factory warranty, and what will it cover?
Thanks, Moon |

Call me crazy, but this sounds like a question for your dealer.

so your trying to get extended warranty coverage on a car that is heavily modified and raced? don't waste your money once a adjuster comes to look at your car and takes the pictures, you most likely get the claimed declined anyways. take that money you would spend on a good extended warranty and put it in a savings account.
the best extended warranty company i have delt with is fidelity. but have seen them decline work on cars that have a lot of modifications.

I deal with extended warranties on a daily basis
Only 3 I recommend are Fidelity, Intercontinental and Mercury and their top line plans.
