X1 Drivers side mirror adjustment?
Hey everyone. Just got our new 2015 X1 a week or so ago. Wondering if anyone else has this problem. The drivers side mirror doesn't adjust in towards the car enough for my wife and I. It is worse for her since she is shorter than me. It won't adjust in close enough to see even the edge of the car. I could live with it but I wanted to know if it was normal or not. Out 135is doesn't have this problem at all.
Thanks! |

If your mirrors are adjusted correctly, you shouldn't see the side of your own car.

Take the car back to the service dept, there is a service bulletin regarding that issue. I can't seem to find it right now, it has been a year. It involves removing the mirror and modifying the bump stop to give you more range of motion. My wife and I experienced the same issue and after the mod, we are very happy...

You should never be able to see the side of your own car while seated normally if your mirrors are adjusted properly.

I ran into the same problem. I had BMW of Nashville look at it several times last year and they said they adjusted it many times but yeah the mirror doesn't go inward enough for me to see my door handles (what I'm used to). Finally I got the answer that I should adjust my mirrors like that. I've lived with it and now I'm OK with it. I noticed its worse the higher I put seat, too. I'm 5'7", BTW.

Don't sit so far forward. Use the lever on the side of the steering wheel and pull it further out, and follow by moving the seat further back or reclining a bit. Then you should have no problems with the side mirrors.

Why do people insist they need to see the side of there car? What are they looking for? YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE SIDE OF YOUR CAR! By turning in the mirrors so far that you see the side of your car you greatly increase your blind spot. Sorry for my screaming, but I ride a motorcycle as well as my car and truck, and I have been cut off because when people check there mirrors they see the side of there car not what is in the middle of the lane.

Now that you know you are doing it wrong change before you kill someone! |
