Lift Gate pull down - XBimmers

My wife (4'10") struggles with grabbing and pulling down the lift gate. Are there any modifications or known solutions to alleviate this problem?

Can you tie a 1 foot diameter rope loop, but make sure when she closes the hatch it won't pinch the rope.

Or put a plastic stool about 10" high from 99 cent store or Ikea in the trunk.
