Head-up display off and navigation on the rev counter cauge
Hello,
Yesterday when I started the car engine, the head-up display went off and the engine revs started showing the navigation indications instead (see pic). The next time I got into the car, everything had gone back to normal: head-up display on, and no nav indications in the rev counter. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thank you. |

You can certainly decide what you want the hud to display , haven't checked if the idrive allows you to deselect everything ie turn off. The f10 has a button where you could turn the hud on or off.
Obviously if the hud is off or deselected then information will appear in the instrument cluster. Good idea about the key as these settings may have been defined in a different orofiley |

If you switch HUD off on Idrive, the nav normally then shows on the cockpit. This might be what happened.

Thank you all for the comments.
I used the same key as always, and the car did it without any action from me. Has been working fine since then. I'll report it to the dealer at the next visit. I have to say though, that I wasn't aware that if we turn the head-up display off, the unformation will appear in the instrument cluster. I always keep it turned on. I don't think there's a button for that, either, like in previous models. So, it might have been a momentary head-up display failure. Do you agree? |

Doubtful those events get logged somewhere in the system, but do keep an eye on it.

I do it infrequently. For fun really. The graphics on the cockpit for slip roads on motorways is better than for HUD. It is a pleasure gazing at Sports Display as well.

I know you said it's the same key. One other possibility is accidentally pressing the 1 or 2 Button on the door. They could have different settings depending on how you've set them up. Probably unlikely but thought I'd throw that into the mix.

It's always nice to find something new on a car you owned for a while.
Something try if you want is to look at the hidden instrument cluster menu, post a thread about probably a year or so ago. Allows you to see things like coolant and oil temps and suchlike. |
