X1, X2 seat comparo.
Are the seats in the X2 a different design then the seats in the X1 ?
I ask because I had an X2 loaner yesterday and an X1 loaner today and am really impressed with these vehicles as a daily driver. |

They are the sport seats which are standard on the X2 and X1 (M-Sport) but optional on the X1 X-Line. From what I've read, and experienced from a loaner vehicle, they are far more comfortable than the standard X1 seats due to their better bolstering of the back and cushion.

Well, with all due respect to your wife, the sport seats on a 3 series are much more comfortable and provide much better support (especially laterally) than the sport seats in an X1 provide.

A lot of us in the UK are of a smaller frame so the slightly smaller seats in the X1 can actually be more comfortable. Having experienced both back-to-back (sorry for the pun) I can say that we definitely find the X1 seats more comfortable.

Have to say that having driven amongst other things Saab, Volvo and most recently Audis the Sports seats in my X1 are extremely comfortable and up there with the best.

I guess what this comes down to is that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I base mine on my E46 M3 and my previous E36 328is with sport seats, as well as other recent BMWs that I've driven including an F30 335i with sport seats. I'm not disappointed with the sports seats in my X2, but they aren't in the same league as the seats in my 328is, let alone the ones in my M3.

I wish I had gone for the sports seats on my X line but was persuaded by the motor press not to bother. And my wife preferred the standard seats to those in our old class M-B. I prefer the M-B seats and those in the Volvo XC60 which I also looked at before buying the X1. But management overruled my choice and anything for a quiet life!

Seems you can never get it quite right - especially where there is another 'influencer' in the decision making process! |
