DINANTRONICS for the X1 28i Available Now.
I know there has been a pretty steady demand for the X3 and X4 cars that are now supported but this newest release is also compatible with the X1 cars as well so you can take advantage of getting some extra power while not sacrificing your factory warranty-- a Dinan hallmark. With a rough maximum gain of 40 HP and 40 ft-lb of torque now your 28i is essentially turned into a 35i!
Performance graph is below. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any. Please note that the X1 35i is already supported via a software flash hence why they are not included in this release. |

A preferred one, no. We do have 4 in the area though. For an experienced independent that has a lot of racing experience to tap into I would recommend Fall Line Motorsports in Buffalo Grove. If you wanted a dealership experience you can't go wrong with either Laurel BMW in Westmont or Patrick BMW in Schaumburg. We also just extremely recently opened up a new independent in Orland Park by the name of Bavarian Auto Werke. Haven't had a lot of exposure to them so I really can't comment on them but they may turn out to be one of our best dealers for all we know. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

What's the difference between this tune's parameters and the tune for the rest of the N20 powered cars? Why do we get less power?

There is no difference between this and the other N20 powered cars with an electronic wastegate. The mechanical wastegate vehicles showed slightly more power (312/330) but for all practical purposes they are the same. The difference is the equivalent to a rounding error although the power edlivery between the two wastegate versions differs a bit. The mechanical wastegate vehicles tend to have a bit more 'harsh' power delivery where the electronic wastegate is a bit smoother due to finer control of the wastegate itself.

I'll order tomorrow from my dealer, they're a Dinan authorized group. Any discounts? lol

Nothing at the factory level unfortunately but each dealer has free reign over what they ultimately want to sell things for so it can't hurt to ask and see if they are willing to do something on pricing.

One last question. If I were to install a carless down pipe, would the Dinantronics keep the idiot light off? I'd really like to delete my cat

The CEL would still be present. The DINANTRONICS Tuner integrates fully with the factory setup and does not clear codes. The whole point of our system was to create a factory-like system that didn't need to clear codes by interfacing with every necessary subsystem so that the built-in factory safeguards were retained. Whereas some tuner systems simply interface with a couple select sensors the DINANTRONICS Performance tuner ties directly into the factory ECU and is able to interface with any signal coming and going. This equates into sublime drivability which typically sets Dinan apart.

It is my understanding that the encryption for the N20 and N55 engines has yet to be cracked, which means that Dinan cannot access the actual ECU parameters/maps anymore than any other tuner could. This quote from your website is patently false, to to the best of my knowledge: Quote:
Are you really claiming to be able to manipulate AFR ratios at specific RPMs when no other tuner can? Do you have hard data to back this up? Last edited by paradoxical3; 12-19-2014 at 07:53 PM.. |

Please don't turn this thread into a crapfest because you happen to use the Burger Motorsports JB harness paradoxical3. Dinan, thanks for continuing to work on the N20 based X models, especially the X1.

Dinantronics for the N20 is specifically a piggyback. Just like the Jb4 http://dinancars.com/product/d440-16...-f10-528i-n20/ |

Because I dislike false advertising. The question is, why don't you care if you do have a N20 engine? Dinan claims they can adjust target lambda via piggyback when no other tuner can.
I am simply asking how that is the case. |
