Question X1 E84 charge air duct question

Hi everyone.

Looking for help with my X1 E84 35i air ducts.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've got some errors related to air intake:
  • 002774: Air mass, plausibility. Air mass too high
  • 002906: Intake plenum. Suspicion of leaks between exhaust turbocharger and intake valve
  • 002C57: Charging pressure control, plausibility. Pressure too low

Found someone's suggestion to perform a smoke test and rented a smoke machine.
It showed a good leakage in the middle of part #16 on the diagram, p/n 13717599293.

Two pieces easily disconnected from each other as it seems metal retaining ring got opened.

Is this part fixable at all?
Or is it better to get p/n 13717599293 to replace as entire piece?

Thank you.

Easy to do. I'd go aftermarket though instead of OEM.

@projectbarnie, could you please elaborate?

Is OEM part poorly designed?
And do you have some reliable aftermarket brands in mind for this?

Thank you.

The oem one is made of plastic that becomes brittle over time and cracks like the charge pipes.

I'll be getting one like this in the future:
