New Owner Black X1 2015 E84

Hello Everyone,

New Ownwer here of a used 2015 X1 Xdrive E84 Black.
I just recently purchased a Wheel and Tire with 235/45/R17 and would like to ask:
1. Will there be a concern using the wheel and tire 235/45/R17 against stock RFT 225/50/R17?Like Rubbing?
2. Will I need spacers? If yes what would be recommended please.
e. Main Reason Buying it is because the price is at 400$ and wheel is Professionally Painted Piano Black with a BMW Black Cap that I believe will blend on the color of my car.Although, rubber are with 4 brands which is fine for now,as will change it eventually for a Non-RFT.I believe will be going with the Michelin Pilot A/S
3.Seller stated he had no issue using the whel and tire related to Tire Pressure Sensor. Will there be a concern with this?

Appreciate your response and feedback.

What is the offset of the new wheels?

The tire size definitely will not be an issue, but if you change the wheel offset you may need spacers.

TPMS doesn't care about runflat/non-runflat.

You can typically find it on the back of the wheel. It will usually be labeled ETxx, with the x's being numbers that denote the offset in mm.

Switching between a 235 and a 225 should be a non-issue, but you really need to know the specifics of the wheel.

Wheels are not something that are automatically interchangeable. You either need to do a little research or go to a tire shop and have them tell you what will work (they will be more conservative that what you can really get by with).

FYI, the standard 17" wheel on the E84 X1 is 7.5" wide, with a 5x120mm lug pattern and a 34mm offset.

You need to know all of these items for any wheel you are considering.

Hi bucketfoot,I did found it and its ET18 for all Wheels (Used with Black Piano Color with 235/45/R17);I have no idea with the offset of the current Stock (225/50/R17).
Do you think I need a spacer? Also will I need to Buy New Tire Pressure Sensor?I have no confident with the Pressure Sensor on the Black Piano Wheels and planning to swap if possible from the OEM?
I am attaching pictures of rim and my car,I believe it will have a good black combination.
Let me know please your thoughts.

Somewhere in the same area there should be a stamp that says something like 7x17 (there might be a J in there as well).

You need to know this to find out the width of the wheel.

The 18 offset will move your tires outward, so rubbing on the inside will not be an issue. You should be OK for sure up to an 8.5" width and probably even go up to 9".

With all of this info I see no clearance issue.

One concern I see is the JJ in the wheel size info. This denotes that the wheel is for an SUV, not a passenger car. Depending on what model of a BMW these were used on, you may need hub rings if the bore is different (the X1 is 72.5mm).

It would be extremely helpful to know what model of a BMW the previous owner had these on.

Hi bucketfoot the seller stated he did use it on his E46 but I'm not sure if that is the Original from the Car.
Thank you for your feedback.
I already called and emailed my Good Year Tire Service Shop that will install the Conti DWS06,and just waiting for his input as well before buying the Conti Tires DWS06 that if all will be ok just to be sure.

New Owner X1 2015XDRIVE28i->Update 20190303

Hello Everyone,

My car is now Modified using the Black Wheel and Conti DWS06,it did really gave a big difference on the color blending and the ride is extremely better.
Although I had some hassels during the installation and I want to ask Guru's here to give me a feedback with my observation or I'm just freaking out/paranoid.

1st Please see Pixs:
BEFORE (left)
AFTER (right)
2nd Hassels
I went to Goodyear as I have some good experience with them.
Overall: ->Damaged/Dent 1 of my OEM Wheel, please see pixs.
->Then,during removal of the old tires from the black rim, they
scrape the paint due to fixture of machine.
->They inform me,that they can't proceed as they may and will
scrape the paint for all wheels and was advsied to go to Discount
Tires as they have appropriate machine with such kind of tires.I
did stated and complained regarding the damage and the
Assitant Manager stated he had all pictures and will discussed
with thei Store Manager once he is back next week.
3rd Discount Tires
->Installation went well (did not do allignment yet),but did
observed some vibration @ 60 to 80 mph speed.I went back and
requested an intense rebalancing then went to Midas (their
Business Partner) for the Allignment.
Installers are even asking and questioning me that the wheel has
a different bore size and stated to them that they are all the
same specs as the stock wheel, even if they rebalance it and the
bore is different,it will still show vibration.
Result:
->The vibration was lessen but still can notice at 60 to 80 mpg.
->Me and my wife did Test Drive and I even ask my wife to hold
steering wheel and she understan what I am saying BUT take note
there are some roads that we can't feel the vibrations with the same
speed.
Question:
->Am I just freaking out/being a paranoid to what I am observing?
->Below 60 mpg speed all are ok with no issues, again there are
some roads that we can feel vibrations and there are some that
there's nothing,again same speed?
->Having the Conti DWS06 due to softer wall, that this is normal?
->If my vibration problem is really an issue,I should be seeing it
constantly right?

Next Step Depending on your feedback:
1. Make the rear swap to front.Expecting that the front have wheel
bent/warp?
2. Mount original OEM with RFT and observed in Highway with the
same speed as noted.
3. Will ask difintely Goodyear to Restore all damages incured.

Please give me your feedback.
Neil

As stated earlier, one of my main concerns was the bore size. I know you said you measured this, I just wonder if you measured the correct thing.

This is most definitely an issue. I would not drive the car at speed and would minimize its use until you can address this.

I would check with Discount Tire about hub rings that will address the bore size issue.

After hearing this, my guess is that the wheels came from an X5.

Hi bucketfoot,I did measured it like ID=Inside Diameter, wall to wall and its 72.5 mm.
Did I measure it correctly, its just correlates to the specs as you stated.
What is the bore size X1?I am seeing 74.1 mm online?
