How much fluid for the following items? (2014 X1 sDrive 28i)

  • transmission fluid
  • brake fluid
  • power steering fluid
  • transfer case fluid

and do any of these need to be flushed and then refilled or a drain and refill suffices.

thanks

transmission fluid - drain, replace pan, refill
brake fluid - No different from regular brake fluid bleed job.
power steering fluid - Many used the turkey baster method.
transfer case fluid - Successfully performing this separates the men from the boys.
Search the DIY.

Bonus:
  • Front diff - drain and fill. Quite easy. Just have remove the under carriage armor
  • Rear Diff - Super easy. Drain and fill

IIRC...

Tranny - I think fcpeuro sells 7l bottles of ZF LG8.
Front Diff and Rear Diff - I think I got 2 or 3 1l bottles of BMW Syntetik OSP 75w90. Still had 1 bottle left and used it on my RX8 rear diff. haha
PS fluid - I bought 1l bottle of CHF11S. More than enough. Make sure you check your PS reservoir sticker to verify it needs CHF11S. Some models use different fluid.
Xfer case fluid - Can't remember... do a search. Maybe 1.5l? Those are expensive from BMW per bottle.

It's weird. The FCPEuro guy said 75w140 for the diff. Also, there doesn't seem to be any info on the capacity for the Xfer case.

Your splitting hairs. 75w85 is fine. I won't use 75w140.
Go to realoem.com enter your vin to get qty.
