Is new car selling to to malls?
There is a high end mall near me (Scottsdale Fashion Square) which has a Tesla store (currently there are two different Tesla vehicles on display there along with staff); a Polestar 2 on display by the food court but moving to a store like the Tesla; a Solo on display; and a Lucid design studio with five charging spots in the parking garage.
And this is in a state with an automobile franchise law that restricts sales to dealers. Is this the new future? |

Telsa has been in malls for 5 or more years now so it's not new.

lol I was literally thinking the same thing. I can't even remember the last time I went to a mall.
We use to throw a car out at one of the outlets malls near our store but the ROI wasn't worth it for us in the long run so we stopped. I believe there are a few places in malls that other manufactures have such stores but I am not sure how influential they are.

I suppose this may become more common. A mall near me has a Polestar on display and an entire Genesis store. This same mall had a Porsche pop up store as well for sometime.
Tesla has been in malls for many years. |

Over 10 years. I used to work at a center in 2012 during my undergrad days.

Yes there's a thing called CarExpert in the mall near me.
https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...centre-is-open Add to this manufacturers are changing the way dealers work. Eg Mercedes is now fixed price and dealers cannot vary the sell price. Possibly Honda too from memory. They'll all be this way soon as it will be a much more efficient business model. I would not want to be in the car dealer business going forward. |
