Route wire from fuse box into engine bay through firewall
So I've been searching everywhere and found an easy solution to route any wire into the engine bay.
Remove the scuttle panel in the engine bay and remove the black cover over the engine bay fuse locations. Then remove the white cover by sliding the tabs and the black tabs have tabs underneath which are ressed outwards to lift the black tabs. Now under the passenger footwell remove the panel mine only had 2 torx 20 screws I think there should be 3. Once removed get upside down headfirst and view into the dme box area. You will see a white panel with 4 ends of bolts sticking out. Mines was blocked, so I drilled 2 holes through the white plastic. As you can see from the pictures, I routed a red wire and green wire. Then routed those through the small hole in the wiring harness pictured by using a pry tool to remove the end rubber end cap. Not in pictures but I used some more wire taped to the screwdriver to then use that wire to fish the other red and green wire through. Now for the life of me I can't find a car unlock live fuse. Nearly all of my fuses even locations where there are no fuses are 12v constant it seems. The only ones I've found were location number 8 for cig port which only becomes live with ignition, and number 58 is ignition live as well. I need a car unlock live fuse location on X1 e84 2012. I've found my constant 12v which was an unused slot on the board so using that for my dash cam as it has parking monitor too. But need car unlock live, I've tried the footwell module fuse 41 30amps but that doesn't seem to switch off at all even after locking the door and leaving the car for 5 mins. I need an unlock live as a switch for my relay for some led drls I've bought but don't want only ignition live. |
