I know they are closed on Sunday, but you might want to ask Discount Tire why they think they are the wrong bore size.

Just wondering if they looked it up for the 2nd Gen X1 instead.

Unfortunately Discount Tire stores can be really hit or miss. I'm lucky in that the guys at my local one are very good.

Hi bucketfoot,the technician that remove the wheel is just saying when he remove 1 of the front wheel the wheel just fell off and stated when they typically remove wheel it shoud stay firmly,is my 2015 a Gen 1 or Gen 2 and is there any bore size difference?I will be going to firestone now just to have a sanity check.I trust more the guys in good year,the persons in Discount Tires didn't even made some actual measurement.
Will keep you posted if a hub ring is needed.
thanks,
Neil

2015 is 1st Gen. The 2nd Gen wheels are entirely different as this version is more of a Mini than a BMW.

hi bucketfoot,I think i'm dead and you are right.
->Firestone doesn't want to touch the wheels due to liability.
->Wen't back home and reverified my measurement.
->Result:
Confirmed the black wheels is 74mm.
Remesured OEM its 72.5mm
And
They have differences in design.
Please see pictures.
Black Wheels->Total Cylindrical
OEM->There's just like a certain wall and that's where I measure its 72.5 mm

Question:
1. Will I still be able to use black wheels using ~1.5 mm hub ring?
2. Will it be safe?
3. Will the difference in design be a concern in my safety (with family) and safety car?

Note: Will go back tomorrow morning in Discount Tires to install the hub ring.Hopefully a 1.5mm ring is on stock.

appreciate your response.
thanks,
Neil

1. You need to ask a tire expert.
2. If they say a hub ring can be used in this case, they are absolutely safe (my daughter has them on her Honda Fit to be able to use wheels that are designed to fit multiple vehicles).
3. If Discount has something that they are willing to install, then I would not be concerned.

I'm sure either is OK, but given a choice for something like this I would always go with metal.

New Owner X1 2015XDRIVE28i->Update 20190312

Hello Everyone,

I just want to give feeback,after driving the car more with higher speed.
Here's my observation:
->After installing the Hub Centric Ring,the vibration on the wheel at 60 to 80 MPH Speed eliminated the issue.
->Recently,I did observed during 70 MPH Speed and hitting the break,I am seeing a significant wobbling/vibration steering wheel.

So question on my side are:
1. Is this still related using the 74.1 mm Hub Diameter of the X5 Wheel I'm using?How about tires,but this is new?Again,wheel and tires are balance and was reverified.
2. Alignment Issue?The car is not shifting left and right during high speed driving.Note: I went back to Midas who aligned my car and stated that my issue may be related to a warp rotor disc?
3. My suspect is rotor disc warp?I am not experiencing brake pedal pulsing in slow and high speed just the steering wheel is wiggling/wobbling/vibrating.
The car has 35k plus miles already and dealer confirmed both rotor and pad are still original and was never replace.
I have a service appointment by saturday to check brake system.

4. In case dealership would confirmed that my rotor disc is warp,is it recommended to replace all 4 or just front?I am enrolled on maintenance plan and these rotors and brake pads are covered.

Give me your thoughts.

Neil

Warped rotors won't shake a steering wheel when you're not braking.
Are those wheels ball or cone seat?

hi kiloThree,the steering wheel shake when I'm breaking at 70 mph,steering wheel is smooth without vibration/wobbling at 70 mph if im not breaking.
I have no idea if its wheel ball or cone seat.
