Mini Spare on X 1 35i
Bimmerzone offers the spare tire kit.
BIM-SST-E84-KIT. Will this work on the 35i with the bigger brakes? It says not testing on M-sport, but the 35i has the bigger front brakes, so there's no proof it'll clear the caliper. Just wanted to see if anyone else bought one for a 35i. Or do I need the one for an M3? (Which ironically, is closest in diameter to the OEM wheels for the x1). |

I called BimmerZone about this very issue. They were able to verify that the BIM-SST-E84-KIT is the exact same as the wheel they sell for the E93 335i. The E93 335i and E84 35i have the same front rotor diameter - 348mm.
Before that I did buy another spare - a 17 inch ET30 wheel. It did not fit, but just barely. The offset was too large and brought the wheel inward too far. I also confirmed with BimmerZone that the BIM-SST-E84-KIT is an ET18 wheel. So - I trusted them and bought the spare. Right around when it came in I had back surgery and haven't been able to test it yet. I'll get around to doing a trial fitment and post back here once I'm cleared to do so by the doc. Unless you want to come by and do it for me? haha

I just checked - fitment of the spare is confirmed. It sure is tight! But no problems.

Agreed on the price. I bought a different wheel from Bavauto when it was still alive, it’s made from light alloy rather than steel. Not sure who has it with tire mounted now. Here’s what it looks like: https://amzn.to/2QNmpCK
