BMW X1 spied testing in Sweden
Here she is playing in the snow!
The X1 is set to be nearly identical to the concept X1 already shown with mild changes to the rear taillights. The car will share its platform with the upcoming Mini Crossman SUV and is going to be similar to the RAV4 in size. Expect to see the production version of the X1 at the Frankfurt Autoshow 2009! Even though it seems unlikely, I kinda hope they bring this car to the states.. Credits to GlobalMotors for the pics: http://globalmotors.net/2010-bmw-x1-...-snowy-sweden/ |

it would be interesting to see here, but i don't think BMW wants to compete against RAV 4's and CRV's, when the X3 already does that.

True, but the current X3 is fairly larger compared to the CRV (well maybe not the most recent one) its interior space was very similar (and larger in some spots) then the outgoing X5. With the new X5 getting a third row I think the new X3 will be even larger then the old one slotting a spot for a miniute crossover.

i understand that its still a concept but why do they have to hide the lines since we already know what the car looks like ? its not like they are going to change the whole thing if it ever makes it to the production line.

The car doesn`t need to be spied anymore
The german magazine "Autobild" has already had the opportunity to test ride the X1,as well as the 750i X drive and the X6 hybrid http://www.autobild.de/artikel/proto...ve_823679.html |

the reason i don't think BMW will compete with the CRV/Rav4 is because those aren't markets they're in right now. those are low-cost models, not luxury vehicles. the CRV's brother (Acura RDX) competes head-to-head with the X3, which is the way i think it'll stay. one thing to look forward to is the Mini based off the X1 platform, that will compete with the Rav4 and other low-cost SUV's.

I was saying that all of these cars got bigger (X3 stayed the same) but it already had the capacity of the X5. Even if they say the new X3 will be the same it will have to grow a bit or people will look at the X1 and buy the cheaper one if they are to close they are only 4 inches different currently. There is nice slot underneath the X3 which right now no one occupies. I like the X1 idea, I am hoping it will handle close to the 3 series with some nice extra room. Of course the best option would be a touring but people still have that wagon stigma (I like them).
