How do I charge my phone with the ignition off?

Hi everyone, I cannot figure out how to charge my iPhone with the ignition off in my wife's '15 X1. On a keyed ignition, you just put the key in the run position, and the cigarette lighter charging port charges the phone.

But the key fob ignition only seems to have 2 positions: ignition on and car running, or ignition/car off and the fob still in place, which allows the stereo to work. When I turn it off though my phone charger immediately stops working.

So how do I charge the phone with the vehicle not running? TIA.

Without adding an USB hardwired or re-wiring the accessory outlet you cannot. As far as I know you would have to wire it to an always hot fuse behind the glove box.

just carry a portable battery back. keep it charge while you drive. charge your phone phone when car is off.

take it with you when you need it on the go.
