I can't comment on the BMS JB4 but many people on here seem to have good experiences with it. I had the stage 1 tune from BMS and didn't like it. The power delivery was all over the place. I currently have the Dinan stage 2 software. The power doesn't feel that much more than stock but there's definitely a bump. Zero throttle or power issues. Feels like stock plus.
Charge pipe upgrade is a must on N55. Mine went while I was under warranty and the dealer said it's a wear/tear item and wouldn't cover it. As far as exhaust, there aren't many direct bolt-on options for our cars. You could use the BMW PE or Dinan from the 135 which will require slight modification but it is totally doable. I had the Active Gen II exhaust and there was just too much resonance for me despite AA saying "no drone." I ended up doing a secondary cat and resonator delete with stock muffler. Sounds good enough for me. |

I will be putting my JB4 up for sale soon but have a vacation coming up so not really interested in moving it at the moment. Already sold my X1 N55 for a 2020 Explorer ST because I needed the size.
I think the biggest thing about the JB4 is the codes that pop up on even a properly working car. It used to clear codes automatically but if you are on the current ISO software or purchase a new one, they do not and you will need to do that periodically. Otherwise, power is undeniable.

Do you have the older version? Sounds like it. I want one, maybe I’m wrong but it seems a little like a unpolished product/ hack. The Dinan flash sounds OK but there is no way to tweak it. There are other options too but they seem limited/ not as good. I’m plowing ahead with the chargepipe and then probably the downpipe, and hopefully by the time I get em done, I’ll have the rest figured out or I’ll just cave and get a JB4.

Just bought it last year, so not likely. but again, I've got the N20/28i version not the N55/35i one.

I have a jb4 and a catless downpipe that I recently removed from my 2014 Xdrive35i. Had them on the car about a year. Went back to stock. I haven't researched the resale market on these. Make me an offer? I'm in Arizona.
