Retrofit SatNav and Bi-Xenon headlights
Hi guys I have ordered a BMW X1 in Sri Lanka. Due to my restricted permit (USD 25,000) BMW could only offer me a standard BMW sDrive20d auto. Ever since I ordered it I have been wanting to retrofit both SatNav and Bi-xenon headlights to it and I have been searching all over the place for them.
But now finally found a company in Canada that offers SatNav below is their link link; http://www.bimmerretrofit.com/store/...&product_id=77 Just would like to know if this will work with my non-iDrive X1? Further about the Bi-Xenons found a few sellers in E*ay who offer genuine headlights for a very good price. But that too I am unsure if it will work with my normal halogen lights. Thanks in advance... |

Hi Poscher,
Congratulation on your order I don't know the company that supply the satnav but it looks legit. It's clearly a satnav for a X1 and it does come with the iDrive controller which is at bottom left on the picture. You probably will have to have it fitted by a professional though. Only thing that bothers me is that there is no mention of the external shark fin aerial.

Hmm. I wonder where a used Nav system comes from since X1's are only just now available in Canada.

I ask them today and they said that it would require some extra modifications... just like the previous topic and do-it-you-self section I think that its better off going with a new dash board as well... but hopefully someone will find a easier way around it... |

Yeah, my legit comment was aimed at the satnav, not the seller. Be carefull, there are some bad guys out there.

although you can buy the xenon headlamps ( with bulbs and ballast) for the x1 as a spare part, - the main problem that effects the installation is with the damm coding - moreover the xenon kit comes with the headlight leveling device and the BMW x1 offered for the permit in Sri Lanka is a base version. - so its a strict NO NO...
You can get the part Nos on www.realoem.com |

Hi,
there are enough X1s that were involved in an accident. The car itself might be beyond the point where repair is anywhere economic. But you could still salvage some parts like the satnav from the wrecked car. bye Darky |
