Turning rotors?
Has anyone turned the rotors on their X1?
Just curious as I've been told by both my dealer and a BMW specialty shop that they do not. The dealership says they install pads without turning the rotors if they are in spec and the specialty shop says they replace the rotors every time. I'm not sure what would be unique about BMW rotors that you couldn't turn them??? |

I'm leaning towards slotted.
I won't touch a drilled rotor. They are just for looks, do nothing for performance and have to many problems with cracking. |

Again, I've never measured new vs lowest rated spec. But that makes sense if true. I've always been a fan of turning rotors if it can be done within spec. |

I had my factory rotors turned and they still vibrated afterwards. Could've been the shop's fault but hey, maybe there's a reason they don't recommend it.
A pair of Carquest painted rotors from Advance Auto cost me $90 after coupon and look just as good as stock, and perform great even after flogging them on the track. |
