Battery icon on dashboard
Recently, the battery light is coming on soon after engine is turned off. I believe the battery is near its lifetime but wanted to double check before proceeding with a new battery. When I check the voltage with Carly, with engine on, it shows 14.6 V and when off, it drops to 11.96 V. This is the original battery that came with the car and the car is at 66K mileage.
Are there other things I can check that can cause the battery light to come on? Otherwise, I think it's safe to say the battery must be replaced some time soon. Thanks |

I’m with you, a 2015 with about 10k less miles than you. Even so, it’s a 6+ year old battery and the car has warned me a couple times. I’ve been driving so much less with the pandemic, so I’ve been hooking up to a AGM battery charger, hoping to extend the life until spring. You might want to try a AGM charger, hook it up for a good long while overnight, and see how it goes.

I have the same year and model, and at 34k miles it drops to about 12.3 when off.
Good to know that a battery symbol shows up when under 12v and off. It looks like you need a battery now. I've scoped out Sam's Club who has a H7 AGM that fits, and has handles. |
