Vape. Worked for me. Start with a small dose of nicotine vape, like 11mg for a few weeks. Then go down to 8-6mg for a few weeks. Then go to 0mg. Do not ever go back up in nicotine strength. Keep it at zero and sooner or later you will get tired of vaping because your chemical dependence on it will be disappear. I smoked for just as long as you have, and I haven't smoked regularly in 2 years. Not to say I don't bum one every few weeks or so, but it's much better than daily smoking.

Quit when you're sick; when you have the flu and a good fever.

Fall in love with your future wife who refuses to sleep with you if you've been smoking that day.
More seriously, congrats to you for making the decision. I started when I was 12, was at nearly 2 packs a day by 20, and didn't really quit until 23 or 24. There are many methods, any of which can be good based on your physiology and psychology. For me, it was a combination of the above mentioned external motivation, lots of Nicorette (or whatever the Walmart ripoff was), and telling everyone around me that I was trying to quit. I was lucky to have good friends who would remind me all the time if I started to light up. I would sometimes chew on cinnamon sticks to satisfy the physical fixation. I quit four or five separate times before it "took", and even now I may allow myself a couple cigarettes every few months in the right situation (or a cigar on a special occasion). It is still hard some days, especially when I'm away from home. Best of luck to you! Please feel free to post again with progress and for support! Having people around me on my side made the world of difference. |

I was a social smoker for probably 15-20 years. I went to the vape with now issues. After doing that for about a year, I'm smoke/vape free. Takes some will power, but it can be done. Good luck!

The good thing is you want to quit smoking. I suggest reading this book. Best $15 I've ever spent. I read the last page and never lit another cigarette again. Never even had the urge. I honestly couldn't believe it. You can smoke your brains out during it. It even says so. I'm not saying it's going to work but for the $$ why not try.

I also quit by vaping. Vaping does not contain MAOIs that are present in tobacco and make natural tobacco much more addictive than pure nicotine. Quitting vaping was easy.

I've vaped for 2 years now. Started from 18mg down to 3mg but I couldn't vape 0mg. This method didn't work for me because your constantly chiefing on the thing.
Fast forward now I've hopped on the juul band wagon. On 50mg nicotine refill, however its working for I'm taking only 4-5 puffs twice a day now. |

There are lots of ways to quit and using vaping to ease off is as valid a method as any other. For everyone saying to "just stop" - I'm sure that works for some people. Didn't work for me the two or three times I tried that method. |

Dr Frank Nasso, Staten Island check him out, I saw you were in NY.
I tried a bunch of shit before him never worked. One and done with Dr. Nasso I quit two packs of Marlboro a day for about 35 yrs, about 14 years ago.

I quit regularly smoking almost 15 years ago and still have to fight the urge at least weekly, especially if I'm on the road. Yes, it's far easier now but per my first response there are still occasions where I'll give in. Perhaps that means I don't have the "some sort of willpower" required for the "just quit" method...but in that case I did still find a way to quit which is what OP wants to do. |

I chewed forever and also can drink a lot. I routinely take a month off booze just as an exercise in my willpower. When I drink its because I choose to. If I made the declaration to myself, im never gonna have another drink I would do it. Dont wanna though!

I quit by gradually moving back the time in the day that I would have my first cigarette. Instead of 8am, I would have the first at 9... then later 10, 11, etc., then after lunch, and so on... it was a somewhat slow process but it worked for me... hardest to quit was after supper, especially after a couple of beers, but eventually I had no desire to smoke.
