2014 N55 X1 rattling around 2000 rpm

Hey guys and gals,

Noticed this as I pulled into my driveway today, there's a rattling sound from what seems like under the car (?) When I'm around 2000 rpm. Happens in neutral, haven't had a chance to test it in drive yet but I didn't notice it while just cruisin around earlier. Link:

Anyone know what the hell this could be? FYI I just had my injector's replaced a couple thousand miles ago.

Thanks

Sorry to say but it sounds like the connecting rod bearings are going or gone. Google n55 rod bearing sounds.

Good thing I got the warranty lol...
How does this even happen? I feel like I don't drive the car that aggressively. Also, how do I check if the connecting rod bearings are at fault here. I've seen that you need to check for metal shavings in the oil filter, anything else?

Its definitely the rod bearings, thats a bad case of the clacks. Send it in asap, stop driving. Once they "fix it" ditch the car.

Hey guys, so thanks for she input, it was in fact the rod bearings. BMW wants to replace my engine so I said "sure, go for it, I'm under warranty". Now their claiming a new engine in this thing costs 21,000 Canadian pesos. What the actual F&$K. Limited liability only forces them to pay up to 18k$ and we still haven't touched labor costs.

So, I'm in the middle of negotiations with BMW Canada now and I'll be back to let y'all know how that goes. This car is now costing me money and I may just get rid of it .. new engine will probably fetch a good price on Autotrader right?

So sorry. that’s around $15,000+ USD. Ouch. What is the odometer reading? Why
were the injectors replaced?

The injectors were replaced because of sporadic misfires that the dealership diagnosed as faulty injectors. The car still ran rough afterwards, so I'm thinking of bringing that up if they refuse to pay for the fix.

Odo is at 143,000 km, so not even 100,000 miles yet. Really disappointed in this thing, I got quite the lemon it seems. 🍋
