Wheel Interchange
Hi, just bought 2012 X1. Would like to get winter tires and wheels "summers are 17". Which other BMW models will interchange with X!? Thanks.

Almost everything fits... 17, 18 or 19, even some 20's.
Here's some conservative setups: Fronts: 8'' ET35 to ET18 Rears: 9'' ET40 to ET20 or 8'' ET50 to ET10 Here's style 454 from a 528XI 2014 for my winter setup. 18X8 ET30 CB 72.56mm Last edited by Dalco450; 06-26-2014 at 03:04 PM.. |

Thanks for the reply. I have read ads that mention spacers, are the required with different wheels? What about the tpms? Do they reset themselves or do I have to go to dealer if I buy used rims?

Canada does have TPMS, it's done through the wheel speed sensors and not the expensive crap inside the wheel. Also, the factory 35i brakes will fit under most 17" wheels without any problems.

Quote from Tirerack.com for my car: "Your vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that requires a sensor to be installed in the tire and wheel assembly for proper operation." What's the source of your information about non-sensor TPMS for Canadian X1s? I think that maybe a better question is why there would be two types of TPMS? Edit: Ok, I think that I answered my own question in this thread about US vs Canadian cars TPMS technologies: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=907203

I have 225/45R18 for winter tires on stock sport line wheels. Never had a problem yet driving up to the mountains etc. Tires are Blizzaks, non-runflat.

Thanks for the info. By the way, you're missing a "t" in your signature in "Sporline".
