Installed the insulation this weekend. Bill is very communicative and shipped quickly. As shown above and as mentioned by everyone who has it, the insulation looks OEM and fits well. We had some self-made trouble because we didn't follow the very simple instructions but it was fairly easily remedied. Put the top and bottom tabs in, then the plugs and then the side tabs.
As for the performance I have to say it's hard to measure but I think the quality if the sound is better than before. I downloaded a sound meter app for my phone and tried doing an a/b comparison but it's very hard to set a baseline because the numbers jump around so much and depend on the road surface, wind and cars around you. I think the insulation prevents road noise and engine noise from resonating against the underside of the hood and hushes things a but. |

Hood Pads?
Hi Bimmerfox,
Do you still have any e84 hood pads available? If so I'd like to purchase one. Darkrom, Yeah, it's an N20 thing...sounding like little diesels and all |

So today I was driving in 320d 1.8D 2010 sport coupe. And I was blown away how quiet he was, almost no sound, like e-car.
I did have no possibility to check if he has insulation, but for sure I will be ordering one for my E84. And I am thinking to go one step further and applying thermo-acoustic insulation in the door panels (all 4) and trunk... |
