Anybody put 245 40s on the 18 inch rims?

It seems like the 225s leave some room for growth...I'm on the stock 18 x 8 inch rims

I know...235s are perfect....but I want more rubber on the road!

245 40s are a little smaller

I'm wondering whether they would look too pudgy.

does anyone have any pictures of wider tires on the stock 18inch rims?

I just got a set of the 219M wheels for my xdrive35i. Love the look. Currently have 245/40/18 fronts and 265/40/18 rears. The rolling diameter between the two is too great (causing drivetrain issues) so I was looking to do 275/35/18 in the rear (like you). Did you have any issues with that set up? I've read some have issues and others don't. Sounds like a crap shoot. Alternatively I was going to ditch the staggered set up and just do square 245/40/18. Thanks.

I just put my set of summer tires on yesterday, 245/45 R 18s. I'll try to take a photo of the set up today and post up some pics.

LevinBR,

I haven't noticed any issues with the ride quality due to the larger set of tires. I will say that these are the runflats, which I didn't have on previously, and I'm not a fan of the run flat tire ride quality at all.

The larger tires definitely handle great and hug the road pretty well. The only time I have ever notice rubbing is when I'm backing up and I have the wheels turned at just the right angle... I've never heard or noticed rubbing when driving forward and I haven't noted any damage in the wheel well as of yet.

I bought this set of wheels used off Craigslist for a steal.... $400!!! So I am definitely happy for the amount of money I spent on them.

What size are those wheels? Standard 8”x18” or wider? I’ve been running 235/45 but I’m thinking of going to 245/45.
Thanks! Terry

245 strikes me as a bit wide for 8" wheels, but the specific model tire you plan on using should have suggested wheel widths for a given size. That's where I'd start.

I've been running 245s on my OEM 7.5" wheels for several years.
