I have no standard GPS in the car, on the place of the GPS there is a storage space with a door. I am looking to intergated an fixed aftermarket solution. Has someone good ideas without visible wires, thanks.

I know that acvgmgh (http://www.acvgmbh.de/shop/) has a lot of solutions, see link. But for our brand new X1 not yet developed. I suppose that they come up with a solution in the next months. Continued...

What you think about this solution http://www.navbras.com.br/. Problem, I don't write or speak Portuguese or Spanish. Please keep me informed.

Good to see some ideas emerging from brodit and navbras. Inside the storage compartment would be perfect for a satnav, with the lid giving security from prying eyes. However it's not high enough for a TomTom, and nearly, but not quite high enough for a Garmin, even with the rubber mat removed. Let's hope someone fills the gap soon. An iPhone could be one solution. Anyone got any ideas about getting power within the compartment. As the iDrive gets located there, I guess there may be a 12v supply just behind the compartment.

The accessory professional GPS solution from BMW is a Garmin by the looks of it, but replaces the storage compartment with a box (so no lid), the GPS mount is bolted in and it is all wired in from the back. I like the idea of the storage still, so maybe the simplest arrangement that should be possible is to simply get a power socket mounted inside at the back of the storage box, then the power cord from a windscreen mounted GPS only runs down a small way and is nice and tidy, compared to it dangling down all the way to the centre console power socket.

I have just taken delivery of a new X1 and been playing around with ways of mounting my TomTom Go 530. As I don't use it every day, I don't want a permanent installation, but I have found that the beanbag dashboard mount (see ), combined with the standard TomTom window mount works really well. The beanbag mount on its own fits in the storage compartment nicely, with some room to spare. Of course, you still have a dangling power cable to deal with on longer journeys, but it suits my needs.

More beanbags
Would be good to see a photo of Princeconsort's installation.
Two questions: Does the beanbag add much function, or could the suction ring just be attached to the base of the storage compartment, with the lid open? Say with the rubber mat removed to improve adhesion. Do the beanbag, attachment and GPS all fit inside the storage compartment when not in use? |

Pics of beanbag solution
Here are a couple of pictures I took of my TomTom on its beanbag, as well as one without the TomTom. Obviously the attachment will not fit in the storage compartment without removing it from the beanbag, but that's hardly a problem. I keep it and the charging cable in the armrest storage compartment; the beanbag just slides back behind the door.
I did consider trying to attach the stand directly to the floor of the compartment. As far as I can see, my rubber mat is glued down, and I don't want to start pulling at it. You could potentially stick a self-adhesive suction disc to it, which may well work just as well as the beanbag, but the current setup works fine for my purposes. |

Not bad ,but personally i prefer to go for a solution with a Brodit proclip. They already have 2 solutions available for the X1. I prefer the solution over the airvent on the right site of the driver.
