Haha
It's like everyone expected a N20 RWD X1 + Xenons / Cloth Seats / 6 SPD for base price. Unfortunately people who want a car equipped like that are like..<5% of the buyers.

It looks like you can still get heated seats though for $500. They do that now on some of the 28i cars. I don't think the sport steering wheel ever gets heat, but I could be wrong.
And +1 on the xenon option without ZPP. That is beyond lame. Also, lately they are doing away with the economical sport package. Which blows since I usually buy it for the seats and lowered ride height. |

Interesting wonder what "Dark Copper" trim is any picks?
Hard to decide between the expensive/sporty M pack with 19" or the off roady/outdoorsy X pack + 19"

WTF is a "moonroof"?
![]() Performance control is variable speeds across the four driving wheels to tighten steering - bit like a tank. XDrive only I believe. I have it on my X1, however having not driven one without it have no idea how much it makes a difference - I am impressed by the steering though, good fun. Interesting how the US seems forced to get options we don't have to take here in the UK. For instance, xenons can be had without all the sat nav etc, however we legally have to have head light washers if xenons are fitted - so they come with. I have heated steering wheel, it's awesome, however was available on its own, along with manually adjusted heated seats etc. None of those 'packs' were offered. I think your prices are lower than ours though, however I haven't done the FX, so could be wrong. Your gas prices are definitely miles cheaper than ours though and you get four years servicing included, so looks like US running costs will be quite a bit lower. |

DO you have the "servotronic" steering? is that what makes it good fun?

If so, I suspect the new 3 series will as well once MSport arrives. This would mean the X1 will be the only BMW that offers a heated steering wheel option, but does not allow ZCP with MSport. |

I would probably add in Metallic paint for $500 (don't like black or white cars), and maybe Servotronic too. |

![]() Servotronic is standard on UK models - still took awhile to get used to the heavier steering compared to my previous car even with this fitted. I don't think Servotronic or performance control on their own make it fun to drive - its a combination of all of them plus the inherent characteristics. I just really enjoy driving it - performs better than I think it should, especially as 4WD etc. The X1 handles very much like a saloon and as such is quiite different to the much higher X3 or X5. I'd not get the sDrive though - don't see the point personally. |

I have a tire question. If you order the 18" wheels or the ZXD pkg are the tires all season or performance with the rear wheels different from the front. My wife got pissed last time when I got the 19'' wheels on the 2007 X3 that rode like crap. I assume just ordering the 18" wheels gives you all seasons with the same size but the ZXD maybe gives you performance tires with different sizes which the M sport would do for sure. It's going to be her car so I'm trying to avoid the piss off factor as much as possible.

Why? RWD is practically synonymous with BMW. Plenty of SUVs out there are available without AWD, but the vast majority are FWD in that configuration which makes the AWD option more attractive comparitively.
With a BMW, you actually want to have the non-AWD option. I was shocked to see they added the sDrive option for the 28i in the US (previously was only offered in lower end models for ROW) but am happy they did, even if it was quite likely only so they could offer a lower priced entry model here. |

I'm going Sdrive for sure like mkoesel says. The only thing that really pisses me off is to get park distance control you have to get ZTP which is $2500 and then the damn $950. This forces me to get the Ultimate and I really do not want or need navigation. PDC is an option in every other BMW. So anyone have an answer on if all 18" wheels are performance tires?

Is that you see a lot of BMWs with the cheap looking halogens My wife has the new X3 35i, and I notice that almost on all the 28is I see They never fork over the money for xenon Which means it's even less likely they pay for it when it's part of a package I'd never buy a car without xenon It makes a huge difference when driving at night When I had my fiat 500, that was the first thing I did Hid kit from eBay 4300K
