bmw x1 2013 engine malfunction reduced power

I just had a valve cover gasket replaced and everything was running perfect before that now I get engine light on and power reduced on the screen, has anyone else ever experienced this issue and had it fixed? Could it be my DME software? Been reading into a lot of different things I don’t know what to do…

Hey Mike, a few questions:

1) Did it run normally after the valve cover gasket replacement?

2) Who replaced it? Indy? Yourself? Dealer?

3) Do you have a code reader and if so, what code is it displaying? This is your best bet of troubleshooting the issue.

It is showing code p052b and it ran perfectly fine before valve cover was done, would you think it’s the vanos?

Would you suppose it's the vanos if it's showing code p052b and it ran absolutely fine before the valve cover was replaced?
