these cars have rather robust drivetrains. Never had problems with transmission, differentials etc... get rid of RFT! |

Haha, glad i'm not the only one! Short commute and driving on xhp stage 2 sport mode doesn't help, but I was in the 14's. Last week I had a day with a lot of freeway time and got back up just over 20, but now I'm down to the 16's again, lol.

Totally agree. Sometimes I think i'll drive on normal mode for a while and take it easy to see if I can get back to 20, but that rarely lasts more than 5 minutes of driving. I can't help myself!!!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with low gas mileage. I live in NYC and have a FBO xdrive35I running JB4 Map 5, I'm averaging 14 mpg with an average speed of 22 MPH. Did a 400 mile road trip last week and got 17MPG averaging 33MPH.

I too am looking to pick up a 2014 X1 35i this week and this thread has been very helpful, particularly the parts about the common failures and preventative maintenance. Thank you all for the insight.

The x1 is the perfect size for me. They are practical, sporty, and unique with the right amount of analog.

Update!
I was driving down the freeway in Texas heat and boom: car overheated. Limp mode, no smoke, I turn everything off and wait. Car turns on, I drive some more and boom: overheated again. Damn. And no water gauge to tell. Here I am, BMW newbie: my water pump went. Car has 66k miles, replaced also the thermostat. If you have not replaced it, the job will be close to $850 parts and labor, obviously not at a dealer. Next will be replacing valve cover unit and gasket for a leak. I am actually getting better gas mileage now! I love this car even after a year. |

Take a look at mine in the Wheel thread...I just posted some pics. I have the same wheels you have. Rather than lowering the car I chose to go with a bit bigger tire. It fills the wheel wells better. and the meats really look nice...I think.

You mean wider not larger.
Maybe when tire replacement will come. I still want to lower mine and I was looking at BC Racing coilovers. BTW I found out how to get better gas mileage=> use good gas and replace your water pump These are the only 2 things I did and I am now averaging 25mpg at 75mph |

The xHP has my MPG to around 24. That's in relaxed mode with a fair amount of highway.
Relaxed mode in D Aggressive 2 in S Relaxed mode is so much better than eco mode. It changes the shift points, but doesn't sap the power from accessories or deaden the peddle.

I carried this blueprint over to the x1. MHD, Charge pipe, sprint booster and XHP. I lost a bit of performance, but gained utility.

I can't recommend this enough. Seems gimmicky at first glance, but really seems to smooth out the throttle response, makes it much more predictable and linear, and allows you to dial in how you want the throttle response to feel for your particular tastes.
Plus, it's got a 30 day, no questions asked return policy, so figured what the hell, why not try it out and play with it. I wouldn't go with one of the other similar pseudo knock offs though. One thing to note, since it's not readily said, but you can use the wired controller/remote to dial in your settings, then can just remove/unplug the remote and it'll stay at that setting. I'm not one who wants to constantly change the settings and a wired controller is somewhat unsightly and annoying. So, once I found out you could do that, it made me finally go ahead and buy it. I also suggested/made Duchess to get one and imagine he can attest to it as well. I think mine is set to Sport 7 and his is Sport 6? |
