Ticking noce from engine 2014 X1

Hi,

I have a ticketing noice on my BMW x1, 2014 (diesel -18d).

Should I be worried or is it the same?

I just bought the car as a used car yesterday. Should I return it?

There's a slight random bang every few seconds that's bothersome.

Yeah, If you can take back have it checked by indy mechanic.

Hmm... My car broke down on the motorway and it was the timing chain. It is in repair at the showroom.

Do you think my engine is damaged? A quick search on the internet revealed that I the engine is damaged if it is an interface engine.

amy idea how would I know?

Likely engine damage due to broken chain guide pieces ingested into your engine. Keep us updated on the progress. Hopefully BMW will work something out?

The following items were replaced by BMW free of charge.
  • All inlet & exhaust valves
  • Both upper chains & sprockets
  • Rocker Arms
  • Cams and pulleys
  • Rear timing chain case
  • Oil filter and oil.

and got the car back after 3 weeks

You did not mentioned you mileage, however, it is out of warranty.
Sound like the timing chain.

Since you are worried and already with weird noises, I would return the vehicle. Easier.

Glad to hear that. What was the origin of the noise?

I believe that was the loose chain.

Loose chain? Probably was a better idea to ask for a new chain assembly.
