E38 M-PARS with 245/40/18 FRONTS & 275/35/18 REARS

No rubbing in the front or rear at stock ride height. I will update this once I lower it on H&Rs.

You will rub on big bumps. There is a tap that is right in the middle of the fender opening.

Thanks for the info. Can the tap be taken care of with a dremel or cutoff wheel?

I used a Dremel to cut the tap then sprayed some black paint on it

4 PSI difference will result in a larger % variance than that. How accurate do you think people are with tire pressure?

Any links to the theory ? I'm interested because they just changed my transfer case last week under warranty. I don't want to pay the bill if it arrives again because of wrong size of tires. My warranty expires next week.

Dunno if this helps but here is what the manual says

"The tire circumference can fluctuate up to 1% or more as a result of mixed tires or wear. The tire tolerance logic decides depending on the driver's command and driving situation whether the slip is to occur in the transfer case clutch or at the contact area between tire and road.

If the slip is permitted in the transfer case clutch, the locking pressure set by the pre-con- trol is reduced in order to keep the work loss low. In the driving dynamic control situation, the clutch is locked slightly more than normal, the four wheel drive is always guaranteed when required.

For maximum xDrive performance, tires (and wheels) of the same diameter should be installed on the vehicle."

Besides common sense?
In fact some vehicles these days use ABS sensors to measure when a tire is low on air instead of physical sensors in the wheels. This works because it compares the number of rotations on one wheel to another. When the tire is low, the number of rotations will be higher thus tripping the TPMS idiot light.

Here is more pictures of the rear setup. I got new faces to pull in the rear about a half inch which will give me more clearance from the fender. My KW are settling and are not as soft anymore. I ll post more pictures when my new faces come back from powder coating. Also remember that is a 5" lip in the rear. Lol

With my winter square setup in 225/45R18, I must put 38psi in Fronts and 45psi in Rears. So, it doesn't make sense for your theory of 4psi = X% diameter variance...

Yep this is where I give up because it seems like there may be a lot that doesn't make sense in your world sorry, no hard feelings.

Hello, New to this forum, just bought a 2012 X1 28i.
After seeing these pictures i'm excited to change out the stock 17's for some of the iconic BMW styles.
Has anyone ever put an 8" wide 17 rim on the x1?
Would this require a spacer?
I'm not sure what the offset is on the rims I'm looking at, but i'm being told either 34 or 40.

Thanks!
