half black tail pipes
S28i, 5 months old, less than 3000 miles. Only the left tail pipe is showing black at the bottom half, see pic. Is this normal? Thanks.

The other one is most likely only open above a certain RPM. Can kind of see the flapper in it in this pic.

100% normal. The other side only opens at WOT, close to, depending on engine load. It's vacuum operated. Look up the golf T mod, you can have 2 black pipes.

As it's been said, pull the vacuum line off the actuator on the side of the muffler. You can fold it and zip-tie it closed, tuck it away.

You can find an cable in the trunk on the left side, just lift the plastic "bucket" up and there's the control cable which can be disconnected. Results in the valve open all the time and no error from the car itself
